Beast mode-- the very mention of that is intriguing and we can bet that's exactly what Samsung meant for it to be.
According to some trademark paperwork filed in the European Union, Samsung is introducing a still unknown feature known as the “Beast Mode” in the Galaxy S8. And while it's unknown exactly what it'll do, we are sure of at least one thing-- your battery is going down!
Power modes are no new thing for Smartphones today with Battery saving modes, “Performance” modes and even “Gaming” mode trying to squeeze out more juice of the tiny computer/phone. So with a name like beast, it's no wonder people are a tad scared.
While there may be fear as to what Beast Mode could do, there's no argument that the Galaxy S8 is going to be an awesome phone. From the rumoured Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, or an Exynos equivalent under the hood and 6 or even 8 GB of RAM, you know it on. There is a high chance that it will be geared towards VR scenarios, where such an ultra high-performance mode would be handy.
When you consider the story with the S7, you do fear when something like Beast Mode doesn't 'blow up' in their faces. Taxing the smartphone’s processor any more than normal would inevitably lead to more heat, which could lead to dangerous battery temperatures. Even if it doesn’t explode, the mere presence of excessive heat could still cause users to become concerned or even panic.
So it remains to be seen where Samsung goes with this, we sure hope they know what they're doing if they go down this route.
