New Supercapacitor Tech Can Provide A Week’s Battery Life To Phones In A Few Seconds

The battery back of your favorite phone has been a crucial factor since times immemorial and with the advent of technology, more emphasis is given on battery department. Brands are unveiling handsets with hefty batteries and promoting the battery backup of their devices far and wide. The latest technology to join the league is a new Supercapacitor Tech from the University of Central Florida where a supercapacitor battery prototype has been built which can last 20 times longer than the current lithium-ion cell.

Theoretically, these supercapacitor batteries could be a dream coming true for heavy users who wish their smartphone batteries to last a little longer. Supercapacitors can store charge on the surface of the material and do not require chemical reactions for power generation. The best thing about these batteries is that they can be charged very quickly, in a few seconds to be exact and can hold power for a week without needing another charge.
Unlike current batteries which start loosing power after a time period, these supercapacitor batteries can be charged up to 30,000 times and still act as new without undergoing any degradation. The UCF team experimented with some concepts with one of them being the attachment of two-dimensional material, having a thickness of a few atoms, to the supercapacitors. The electrons were allowed to pass quickly from core to the shell which resulted in obtaining a material with high energy and power density which charges faster.
UCF’s Yeonwoong “Eric” Jung, said, “We developed a simple chemical synthesis approach so we can very nicely integrate the existing materials with the two-dimensional materialsThere have been problems in the way people incorporate these two-dimensional materials into the existing systems – that’s been a bottleneck in the field. We developed a simple chemical synthesis approach so we can very nicely integrate the existing materials with the two-dimensional materials.”

New Nokia Phone Dubbed Nokia Pixel & Running Android 7.0 Spotted on GeekBench

It is becoming obvious by the day that the return of smartphone legend Nokia into the Android market is imminent. The company was tipped to release a smartphone before the year runs out but that isn’t likely anymore. Even at that, a return in the first quarter of 2017 is possible and GeekBench may have given us an idea of what to expect from the Finnish company. A Nokia smartphone dubbed Nokia Pixel has been spotted on benchmark website GeekBench database, revealing some of its specs.

The Nokia Pixel doesn’t really tickle on the specs table as it is listed as sporting a Snapdragon 200 chip under its hood which is a Dual-core CPU clocked at 1.19GHz. There is also an Adreno 302 GPU and just 1GB of RAM onboard. The device has Android 7.0 Nougat pre-installed inside despite the low-level spec listed.

Elephone Helio P25 device with 6+64GB coming next month

Devices with 6GB RAM will become mainstream in a couple of years. So, manufacturers are already beginning to develop and produce many of them. So is Elephone that, according to rumors, is about to launch a mysterious model with 6GB/128GB configuration. There are not many SoCs that support 6GB of RAM, and since Elephone is using exclusively MTK chips, it should be one that does. Helio P25 is a probability since it has support for that amount of RAM. The mystery device will probably be released next month.

More details are not available for now, but it is reporter that it will feature a 16MP or 21MP rear camera. Also, it will likely feature a display bigger than 5.5″. This should give enough space for a battery capacity of 4000mAh and up. The above information are not official yet, but if they are true, the new model of Elephone is already competitive enough. Moreover, its price will likely be under $300.

OPPO Find 9 Rumored As Coming in March Next Year with Snapdragon 835

The elusive OPPO Find 9 is in the news again, this time the device is rumored as coming within the first quarter of next year, precisely in March. Not just that, the device is also rumored to feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 chip making it a true flagship device.

The OPPO Find 9 has been in the rumor mill even long before the OPPO R9 and R9 Plus surfaced. The device is long expected considering that it is two clear years since OPPO released the OPPO Find 7 which is its most recent smartphone in the elite Find series. The latest disclosure was made by a Weibo user but we cannot authenticate its veracity. But the rumor somehow aligns with words of known analyst Pan Juitang that the Find 9 would be released in the summer of next year.
