Flash Tool for Xperia: How to Flash Sony Xperia Android Devices Using Flash Tool for Xperia

Flash Tool for Xperia is another tool you can use to download and flash stock firmware straight to your Sony Xperia Android devices. Though, the method for flashing stock firmware on Sony Xperia Android devices using Flash Tool for Xperia is similar to the method using (SONY) Flash Tool, it is not exactly the same.

In this tutorial, I explain the step by step guides with illustrations on how to flash stock firmware on Sony Xperia devices using Flash Tool for Xperia android devices.

NOTE:

  • 1. This tutorial is aimed at Windows PC Users only.
  • 2. This tools works with ONLY few Sony Xperia devices.
  • 3. Flash Tool for Xperia is still in beta mode therefore, some errors are bound to occur.

Step #1. Download Flash Tool for Xperia from here and install it on your PC.

Step #2. Download Windows PC Drivers for Sony Xperia Android devices and install it on your PC.

Step #3. On your Windows PC (from the start Menu), open/launch EMMA. Flash Tool for Xperia is named EMMA after successful installation on the PC.

Step #4. Turn Off your SONY Xperia device.

Step #5. Connect a compatible USB Cable to your PC and then connect your SONY Xperia to the other end of the USB Cable while holding the flash key.

    NOTE: Flash Key on your SONY Xperia device is the button or combination of button you can use to enter Flash Mode on Xperia devices. The Flash Key varies from model to model. Step #6. Click to select the firmware for the connected Xperia device.

    NOTE: Flash Tool for Xperia ONLY displays the latest firmware for the connected Xperia model. It does not have the option to select an already downloaded firmware.

Step #7. Now, click Apply Service. This will download the selected firmware and flash it straight to your Xperia device.

NOTE:

    1. You have to be connected to the internet throughout the operation.

    2. Your Xperia device must remain connected to the PC until the operation is complete.

    3. You must have a stable power supply/good power backup throught the operation.

    4. Your Xperia device must be at the least, 50% battery charged.

Step #8. When the flashing operation is complete, Flash Tool for Xperia will notify you and your phone will reboot. You may now disconnect your phone from the PC.

    NOTE: First boot (after flashing) may take up to 20 minutes to complete.



Supported Xperia Devices

Unlike the Sony Flash Tool that supports virtually all Sony Xperia Android devices thus; you can flash, upgrade and downgrade or unbrick all Sony Xperia Android devices using the Sony Flash Tool, Flash Tool for Xperia devices only supports few Xperia Android devices. Alhough, the tool may later support many other Sony Xperia android devices which are not currently supported in this beta release(s) of the tool.
