Vine Might be Dying But the Creators Aren't Giving Up, Enter 'HYPE'

Twitter may have have agreed to shut down Vine, but the creators are in no mood to give up just yet. Two of the app's creators have decided to give it another shot this time going into the densely populated live streaming space.

Enter Hype, a new app that offers the live-streaming experience just like Periscope and Facebook Live.

Created by Vine co-founders Rus Yusupov and Colin Kroll, the app recently launched for iOS, with an Android version expected soon.

How Hype is quite simple as it instantly notifies a user’s followers when they start a live-stream. Fans, subscribers and viewers can then comment and interact with the stream. It also possesses a feature called 'Sparkles' which is basically a form of liking content and is not too dissimilar from Periscope's 'Hearts'

Themed backgrounds are offered, too, and you can also select photos and pictures from your camera roll and present them as a slideshow as part of your live-stream. From the screenshots alone it’s easy to see that the app has a more offbeat and playful approach to live-streaming, though whether that’ll be enough to tempt Facebook Live and Periscope users to take it for a spin remains to be seen.

Naturally entering into the live streaming space is goingto be a daunting task (just ask Meerkat) and with rumours that Instagram would also be entering the live market and possibly snapchat doing the same, it will be interesting to see how Hype fares in all this.
